Walter Grant Shaw

Walter Grant Shaw, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, in Paragould, Arkansas, at the age of 77. He was born on July 23, 1946, in Grayling, Michigan, where he would go on to graduate from Grayling High School. Walter spent the majority of his life in Michigan, working diligently as a Tool and Die Maker for General Motors in the automotive industry. His expertise and dedication in this field earned him the respect and admiration of his peers.

A proud and talented artisan, Walter had a passion for stained glass art and woodworking. He skillfully combined these two talents to create stunning pieces, including an elaborate hall tree meticulously constructed without screws or nails, demonstrating his remarkable eye for detail. His love for building extended to creating ornate mantles, tables, desks, and game tables, showcasing his exceptional craftsmanship and creativity.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Walter was an avid fisherman and had a great appreciation for classic cars and antiques. His younger years were spent playing billiards almost every day, where he honed a skill allowing him to make shots from seemingly impossible angles. Those who knew Walter appreciated his brilliant mind; he could solve puzzles and piece together challenges with remarkable ease.

Family was Walter's pride and joy. He cherished spending time with his wife, Kimberly, whom he married on November 17, 2018, and his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; children, Kerri (Wayne, Jr.) Priess of Paragould, Tracy (John) Aikin of Michigan, and Kim Shaw of Paragould; step-sons, Jason Friar of Beech Grove and Kody (Megan) Friar of Beech Grove; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Alice (Ron) Munshower of Idaho; his brother, Robert (Jean) Shaw of Arizona; his sister-in-law, Terri Shaw of Grayling; three nieces; and his beloved dog, Zoey, who was his faithful companion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lenette Shaw; infant son, Walter Grant Shaw; and brothers, Claude and Stephen Shaw.

In 2019, Walter moved to Arkansas, where he continued to embrace life and create beautiful memories. He will be remembered for his contributions, both as a craftsman and a devoted family man, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched.

Walter's wishes for cremation will be honored, and there will be no public services. As we reflect on his extraordinary life, we carry his spirit and love for family in our hearts.
