Velma Maureen McHenry, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, left this world on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the age of 79. Velma was born on November 27, 1946, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, to the late Rudolph and Evelyn Conradt Oehm. She spent a good part of her life in Paragould, where she created a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering commitment to family and friends.
Velma's dedication to her work in the manufacturing industry was exemplified by her many years at Monroe, where she contributed her skills and unwavering work ethic. She was a proud factory worker who earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Beyond her profession, Velma was a woman of many passions. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as assembling jigsaw puzzles and visiting the casino. These leisure activities were not just pastimes for her; they were moments that brought her pleasure and joy.
Velma will be remembered for her selflessness. She devoted her life to caring for others, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her spirit of generosity and compassion touched the hearts of many, an enduring legacy of her kindness.
She is survived by her spouse, James McHenry; her cherished children, Shari Carder, Matthew (April) McHenry, Michael (Sierra) McHenry, and Sharon (Jason) Beck; her brother, Dale Oehm; her sister, Marie McHenry; fourteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Each of them will carry her memory with love and gratitude, ensuring that her spirit remains a guiding light in their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Aaron Archuleta; and brothers, Gerald and Allen Oehm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Burchard, Nebraska, where friends and family will gather to honor Velma's life and legacy. Specific details regarding the service will be shared in due course, as we invite loved ones to join together in reflection and remembrance of a remarkable woman who enriched the lives of so many.
As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful moments and cherished memories we had with Velma. She will be deeply missed but forever held in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Velma. Your love and kindness will live on in all of us.
