It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Wayne Shipman, who departed this life on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on May 16, 1952, in Paragould, as one of ten children to Allen and Imadell Shipman, Steve learned the value of hard work at an early age.
Steve was a dedicated logger, finding joy in his work amidst the towering trees of the forests. He wielded his chainsaw with passion and expertise, demonstrating a deep appreciation for the land and his craft. His mechanical prowess extended beyond logging; he was a skilled welder and an enthusiastic tinkerer, always seeking to repair and revive the small motors that others deemed beyond repair.
A proud veteran, Steve served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty and resilience.
In addition to his remarkable career and service, Steve found joy in fishing, often retreating to the tranquility of nature to cast a line and reflect on life's simple pleasures.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Julie Shipman; sons, Steven Shipman and Ron Shipman; grandsons, Ty Mayer, Chase Mayer, and Tristan Monkman; granddaughter, Taelor Monkman; great-grandson, McCoy Mayer; and siblings, Jean Shipman, Butch Shipman, Rodger Shipman, Larry Shipman, and Robin Shipman. He is preceded in death by his father, Allen Shipman; mother, Imadell Gramling Shipman; brothers, Jerry Shipman and Britt Shipman; and sisters, Kathy Shipman and Sharon Parker.
A family service will be held in his honor at a later date, allowing those who knew and loved Steve to gather and reflect on his life and the indelible mark he left on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In this time of mourning, we invite all who knew Steve to keep his memory alive in their hearts, cherishing the love and laughter he shared during his remarkable journey through life.
