Shirley Belle Gunterman, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on January 14, 1928, in the small town of Marmaduke, Arkansas, Shirley touched the lives of many with her warmth and nurturing spirit.
Shirley's early life in Marmaduke laid the foundation for her strong values and close-knit family ties. She found joy in reading and cherished the challenge of crossword puzzles, often sharing this passion with family and friends. Shirley enjoyed shopping, always keen to find the perfect gift for those she loved.
Shirley called St. Louis her home, where she enjoyed spending quality time with her beloved children and extended family. For many years, Shirley worked diligently in the manufacturing industry at Sigma, where her hard work and dedication were admired.A devout individual, Shirley found comfort and inspiration in her faith. She loved watching sermons on television, with her favorite pastor being Charles Stanley. These moments brought her peace and served as a source of strength for her throughout her life.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Gertrude Harness and Henry Vanderbilt; her brothers, Henry Vanderbilt, Bill Vanderbilt, Al Vanderbilt, Herman Vanderbilt, Robert Vanderbilt, and Glen Vanderbilt; sisters, Glenda Vanderbilt, Dorothy Harris, Nola Jordan, and Clara Holt.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughters, Cathy Katz and Susan Hart; her grandchildren, Christa , Lisa Marie, Paul , Holly, and Eric; and her great-grandchildren, Lira , Luca , Nash, Savannah Belle, and Emma. Each of them carries a piece of her kindness and love in their hearts.
Funeral services for Shirley Belle Gunterman will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Heath Funeral Home, beginning at 3 P.M. with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Hartsoe Cemetery in Marmaduke, Arkansas,
