Sarah Elizabeth White, cherished mother, beloved grandmother, and devoted educator, departed this life on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on November 14, 1936, in Warren, Arkansas, Sarah dedicated her life to nurturing young minds through education, leaving an indelible mark on countless students over her remarkable 40-year teaching career. Her commitment to fostering a love of learning was unwavering, and even after her retirement, she continued to inspire as a beloved substitute teacher.
A proud graduate of Warren High School, Sarah pursued higher education fervently, earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. Her love for teaching extended beyond the classroom as she engaged in Sunday School instruction and lent her voice to the church choir for many years.
Sarah was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and found joy in small pleasures, such as completing jigsaw puzzles and her love for nature, particularly gardening flowers. Above all, she was the devoted wife to the love of her life, Billy Gene White, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years of marriage, until his passing in 2012.
Sarah is survived by her sons, Timothy and wife, Helena, White of Cuba, Missouri, and James White of Paragould; grandchildren, Billy White, Sarah Paes, and Timothy Rivera White; two great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren with one on the way, who carry forward her legacy of compassion, curiosity, and love for nature. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Moree Sloan, and husband, Billy Gene White.
A funeral service will be held in her honor at Heath Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman. She will then be laid to rest in Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Sarah Elizabeth White will be remembered not just for her contributions to education, but for her enduring spirit, her kindness, and her love for family and friends. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
