It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Russell Stallcup, a beloved husband, brother, and cherished member of his community. Born on June 8, 1948, in Lafe to the late Elvis and Mildred Cole Stallcup, Russell departed this life peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the age of 78.
Russell was a proud graduate of Lafe High School, Class of 1966. He went on to pursue higher education for three years before joining the National Guard, where he devoted six years of his life to serving his country. Though his time in the Guard was not one he particularly cherished, it was a testament to his commitment to duty.
On April 21, 1973, Russell married his dearest love, June Karon Wallis Stallcup, in a ceremony at the 7th and Mueller Church of Christ. Together, they built a life full of love and companionship. In 1972, after a brief tenure at Monroe Automotive, Russell transitioned to farming alongside his father, a calling he embraced wholeheartedly for over 40 years. He found immense joy in raising cattle and nurturing the land, a labor of love that connected him deeply to his roots.
Russell was known for his warmth and camaraderie, often spending time with friends as he enjoyed "shooting the bull." His laughter and kindness will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Russell is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Karon Stallcup of Lafe; his loving sisters, Virginia (Lyndel) Sheer of Lafe and Carolyn (Charles "Chalk") Bowlin of Germantown, Tennessee; and four cherished nieces, who will remember him fondly for his unwavering support and affection.
A graveside service will be held to honor Russell's life at Greene County Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM with Pastor Aaron Neugebauer officiating, where family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate his legacy. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Tim Hobbs, Phillip Best, Robert Wrather, Donald Cole, Jeremy Lange, and Gene Dowler.
In this time of loss, may we cherish the memories of Russell Dwight Stallcup, whose spirit will live on in the hearts and stories of those he leaves behind.
