Robert Donald Cox of Mountain Grove, MO, departed this world on January 30, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 6, 1938, Robert's life was a testament to his unwavering love for his Lord, his family, and his country.
After dedicating 24 years to military service, Robert retired as a Master Sergeant, embodying the values of strength, discipline, and devotion that defined his character. Upon concluding his military career, he embraced a new calling, serving as the pastor of Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Ponce de Leon, Missouri. His compassion and warmth touched the lives of many, earning him the affection of his congregation and community.
Robert proudly declared, "my blood runs red, white, and blue," a reflection of his steadfast patriotism. He was known for his vibrant spirit and ability to make friends wherever he roamed, often traveling the United States in an RV with his beloved wife, Ann. Their adventures were filled with laughter and cherished memories, deepening the bonds of family and friendship.
A devoted father, Robert leaves behind his wife, Ann Cox, and his children: John Gross, Jr. of Kennett, MO, Mark Gross of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Kim (Pamela) Gross of St. Augustine, FL, Gordon (Sonya) Edwards of Clever, MO, Gary (Lori) Edwards of Mansfield, MO, Candace Struble of Oklahoma City, OK, 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be remembered for his love of golf and his unwavering commitment to family reunions, which brought together his large and loving family.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robin Cox; and his parents, Leslie Cox and Berniece Gregory.
A graveside service to honor his life will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Greene County Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest. Bro. Heath Vines will be officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather to pay their respects and celebrate the remarkable journey of a man whose legacy of kindness and service will forever remain in our hearts.
In this time of mourning, may we find comfort in the countless lives Robert touched and the enduring memories he leaves behind. His compassionate spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
