Patricia Jane Singleton, age 89, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025. Born on July 14, 1936, in Caraway, Arkansas, Patricia was a devoted educator and loving family member who touched the lives of many throughout her life.
Patricia earned her Master's Degree and dedicated 29 years to teaching, primarily in first grade at Oak Grove Elementary. Her passion for education was evident in her commitment to nurturing young minds, creating a lasting impact on her students and the community.
Patricia was more than just an educator; she was a beloved mother and sister. She is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Bob Singleton, and her two daughters, Dana Powers and Donna Cox. Patricia will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Wyveta (Gordon) Percell and Aneita (Gary) Lentz, as well as her numerous nieces and nephews, to whom she was a cherished grandmother figure.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Erwin Meddress; mother, Euna Meddress; brother, Douglas Meddress; and her sisters, Rheba Cothren and Doris Ann Meddress.
Throughout her life, Patricia had many interests that brought her joy. She enjoyed gardening, particularly cultivating her flower beds and maintaining her yard, which were sources of great pride (her yard was once named the Yard of the Month by the Paragould Daily Press). In her younger years, she found joy in sewing and crafting clothing, showcasing her creativity and attention to detail. She had a flair for decorating her home and would delight in changing her decorations seasonally, adding warmth to her family's gatherings.
Patricia was deeply involved in her church, 7th and Mueller Church of Christ, where she dedicated her time to teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, as well as participating in various senior activities. Her commitment to her community extended beyond her church, as she also volunteered for Crowley's Ridge College and Children's Home Inc. Additionally, she served as the treasurer of the Southwind Homeowners Association for 20 years, reflecting her dedication to her neighborhood.
Other notable activities of Patricia's include being a member and past president of the Alpha Upsilon chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society; member and past president of the Greene County Retired Teacher's Association; life member of the Arkansas Retired Teacher's Association; co-chair of the Greene County Spelling Bee from 2002-2022; member, board member, volunteer, and life member of the Greene County Museum; and Queen Bee of a Red Hat's Society group.
A public visitation will be held at the Heath Funeral Home on Saturday, August 2, 2025, starting at 1:00 p.m. A funeral service, officiated by Bro. Larry McFadden, will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Patricia will be laid to rest in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Patricia Jane Singleton leaves behind a legacy of love, education, and community service that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be greatly missed but fondly remembered for her kindness, passion, and unwavering commitment to family and faith.
