Opal Irene Bruce

Opal Irene Bruce departed this life Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at her home. She entered her life on the 9th day of April, 1924, as Opal Palmer; the daughter of Bill and Louise Palmer of Peach Orchard. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty years, Melvin Bruce; a daughter, Myra West of Paragould, as well as three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by a sister, Nadene "Aunt Dean" Dowdy of Fairmont, Illinois, two sons and daughter-in-law, Alan and Brenda Bruce of Hooker, Arkansas and Randy Bruce of Grady, Arkansas, as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces , nephews and friends. Opal was a retiree from Monroe Automotive Equipment and a member of the Delaplaine Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Adam Bruton officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Delaplaine Baptist Church.
