Marjorie Louise Loyd, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born on August 5, 1931, in Vardaman, Mississippi, and later made her home in Paragould, where she touched the lives of many.
A proud graduate of Greene County Tech High School in 1950, Marjorie built a fulfilling career as a cosmetologist and beautician. Her warm spirit and exceptional skills garnered her a loyal clientele, who adored her not only for her talents but for her compassionate nature.
In addition to her professional life, Marjorie was renowned for her culinary talents, particularly her baking. She delighted family and friends with mouth-watering cakes and pies, ensuring that anyone who visited her home left with a full stomach after indulging a plate of delicious food. Her generosity in sharing her culinary creations was unmatched, and her ability to bring joy through her cooking became a cherished aspect of her legacy.
Marjorie was also a devoted member of Robbs Chapel Baptist Church, where she spent decades as a song leader and Sunday school teacher. Her love for music was evident, as she would sing joyfully wherever she went, uplifting the spirits of those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bain (Philip Tolley); son, Lanz Loyd (Debbie "Nurse" Farrell); brother, Jimmy Dale Free (Dortha); and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Marjorie was immensely proud of her children and dedicated her life to their well-being and happiness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Veona Free; husband, Chestene Loyd; and sister, Barbara Wedige.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Chateau on The Ridge and The Green House Cottages at Belle Meade Tuberville House for their exceptional love, care, and compassion shown to Marjorie and her family during her stay in their care.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Heath Funeral Home, beginning with a public visitation at 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will commence at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Royce Boling officiating, with burial to take place at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lanz Loyd, Bob Wells, Chris Pillow, Rick Wooldridge, Butch Cooper, and Jim McIntyre. Debbie "Nurse" Farrell will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
Marjorie Louise Loyd will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering love for her family, and the indelible mark she left on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy will continue to resonate in the lives she touched.
