Makayla Brooks

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Makayla Elaine Brooks, who left this world on June 25, 2025, at the age of 24. Born on November 29, 2000, in Paragould, Arkansas, Makayla embodied warmth, strength, and an unwavering love for her family and friends.

A dedicated classroom teacher at Butterfly Babies, Makayla found joy in educating and nurturing young minds. Her commitment to her profession was matched only by her devotion to her own children- daughters, Paisley, Lakelyn, and Riley Brooks, and son, Jase Reed. Makayla embraced the beautiful chaos of motherhood, finding delight in every moment spent with her beloved children. Makayla was a nurturing soul who cherished the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for binge-watching horror and true crime shows and enjoyed cozy evenings at home with her loved ones. Her laughter and joy were infectious, and her family and friends will forever remember the warmth of her spirit.

Makayla is survived by her father, Jimmy Brooks; mother, Misty Bryant; sister, Ariel Tarvin; brother, Forrest Brooks; and her cherished children, as well as her partner, Dylan Reed. She is also survived by her grandfather, Jerry Bryant; grandmother, Elaine Bryant; nieces, Emilee Byrd and Marleigh Tarvin; nephew, Parker Tarvin; and cousins, Gabe and Cierra Bryant. Each of these relationships enriched her life and are a testament to the love she cultivated.

Makayla was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Linda Brooks.

A funeral service will be held in her honor at Heath Funeral Home on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Prior to the service, there will be a public visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. We invite those who knew and loved Makayla to join us in celebrating her life and the memories she leaves behind. 

Though her time with us was far too short, Makayla Elaine Brooks will always be remembered for her kindness, laughter, and boundless love. May she rest in peace.
