Lula "Lou" Mae Varvil

September 22, 1942 — December 6, 2023

Lula Mae "Lou" Varvil, 81, of Paragould, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, with family by her side. She was born in Greenway on September 22, 1942, to the late Delmer Jack Weaver and the late Gladys Farrar Austin. Lou married her best friend, Johnny, on January 16, 1985. Lou, or "Bant" as her friends affectionately knew her, loved to work in her flower bed. She adored her family, and she would work for days with her husband, Johnny, to prepare for family cookouts. She always had a camera in her hand and would take pictures of her family. Lou and Johnny held an annual fish fry, and they would spend hours preparing to serve those who attended. Lou was a St. Louis Cardinal fanatic. Her house has cardinals throughout, and she would rarely miss a game on TV. Lou loved her family, and she always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She retired from the Arkansas Highway Department after serving over 30 years. Lou was preceded in death by her father, Jack Weaver; mother and her husband, Gladys and Virgil Austin; brothers, Ronnie, Earnest, Howard, Ray, and James Weaver; and sister, Joyce Robinson.

Lou is survived by her husband of 38 years, Johnny Varvil; children, Tonia Easton of Texas City, Texas, Greg (Amie) Griffin of Paragould, Daren (Kim) Keeling of Jonesboro, Tony (Sandy) Varvil of Lexington, Tennessee, and Gerald (Kim) Varvil of Paragould; brothers, Carl Weaver of Goobertown, Larry Austin of Paragould, Gary Austin of Marmaduke, Jackie Weaver of Clubb, Missouri, Jerry Weaver of St. Petersburg, Florida, Larry Weaver of Lodi, California, and Ricky Weaver of Paragould; sisters, Doris Harvey of Dixie, Dorothy Guin of Paragould, Linda LaGrange of Senath, and Jody Whitaker of Paragould; twelve grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
