It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lewis Paul Smith, 85, who departed this world peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Born on August 22, 1940, in Knobel, Arkansas, Paul lived a life filled with love, family, and joyful memories.

A proud graduate of Knobel High School, class of 1959, Paul demonstrated the values of hard work and dedication throughout his life. He became an accomplished welder, contributing his skills to Darling Store Fixtures for 23 years in the manufacturing industry. Paul's craftsmanship and unwavering work ethic were a testament to the esteem in which he held his profession.

On June 2, 1962, Paul married his beloved wife, Shirley Hendrix Smith. Over the last 63 years together, they have shared a beautiful life marked by devotion and companionship. Paul cherished his family, particularly his dear son, Greg, who survives him, along with Greg's wife, Gayle, and his brother, Buddy Smith. The bond forged with his loved ones remains a cherished aspect of his legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Beyond his work and family, Paul had a profound love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, but it was fishing that truly captured his heart. Whether near a riverbank or a tranquil lake, his spirit thrived wherever water was present, and he could often be found with rod in hand, casting a line into the water.

A member of Rosewood Baptist Church, Paul was a man of faith. His commitment to his beliefs and community reflected the kindness and generosity he extended toward others.

The family will honor Paul's life during funeral services that will take place on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. A visitation will be held at Heath Funeral Home from 9-10 AM, offering loved ones a moment to share their memories and condolences. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, where those who knew Paul will gather to celebrate his life and legacy. Following the service, interment will occur at Providence Cemetery in Lafe where Paul will be laid to rest amidst the beauty of nature that he so cherished.

As we reflect on the life of Lewis Paul Smith, let us carry forward his spirit of love, friendship, and the joy of simple pleasures, forever etched in our hearts.
