Leslie Staires

January 27, 1965 — July 17, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leslie DeLoyd Staires, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left us on July 17, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on January 27, 1965, in Morrilton, Arkansas, Les made his home in Piggott, where he thrived in both work and life.

Les was a dedicated maintenance worker at Gates, where he took pride in his work and enjoyed being a part of a vibrant community. He proudly served his country in the Army, where he was stationed in Germany. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of duty and pride that he carried throughout his life. Les was a jack-of-all-trades, always keeping busy with tinkering, woodworking, and tending to his cherished farm. His passions also included spending time in nature, whether it was hunting, fishing, camping, or simply sitting in his swing with his wife, Kimberly, soaking in the serenity.

A man of deep faith, Les was baptized in his teens and remained devoted to his spiritual life. Every Sunday morning, you could find him listening faithfully to his preacher, a testament to his commitment. He had a love for old music and trucker songs that filled the air with warmth and nostalgia, and he could always be counted on for a good laugh-or an inappropriate joke-at just the right time.

Les's love for his family was evident to all. He married his beloved Kimberly on November 30, 2019, after nine wonderful years together. He proudly fathered two daughters, Nakita Jordan and Jessica Wade, and welcomed two bonus sons, Dustin and Bryan Groves. His legacy lives on in the laughter and joy of his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

Les is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly; his mother, Georgia Staires; his daughters, Nakita (Jason) Jordan and Jessica (Luke) Wade; bonus sons, Dustin (Natasha) Groves and Bryan (Ashley) Groves; his brother, Tony (Ruth) Staires; and his sisters, Nita Staires and Lisa (Skip) Tilley; grandchildren, Lily, Mackenzie, Kymber, Cashion, Baker, Konnor, Emma, Logan, and Eliana; and sisters-in-law, Cindy Rohlfing and Stephanie Shy. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Les was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Staires; paternal grandparents, Jessie and Stella Staires; maternal grandparents, Silas and Lela Roberts; brothers, Ernie Staires and Terry Staires; and mother-in-law, JoAnn Satterfield.

To honor Les's life, family and friends are invited to a funeral service at Heath Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery following the service, where we will celebrate his life and the joy he brought to so many.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Tony Staires, Bryan Groves, Dustin Groves, Jason Jordan, Tim Travelstead, and Lenn Holifield. Les's grandsons along with Luke Wade, Dave Smith, and Alesha Rohlfing will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In this time of sorrow, let us come together to remember the laughter, love, and kindness that Les gifted to each of us.
