Lavada Marie Montgomery, age 88, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026. Born on March 6, 1938, in Marmaduke, Arkansas, she was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. Lavada's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her community, embodying the spirit of love and kindness.

From a young age, Lavada took on the role of caregiver for her younger siblings, eventually embracing the responsibility of supporting her entire family. Her passion for cooking flourished during these years, and she became renowned for her delicious mashed potatoes and delectable fried pies. Lavada's kitchen was a place of warmth and gathering, where family and friends came together to enjoy not only her culinary creations but also the love and laughter that filled the room.

In her later years, Lavada became a cherished resident of Greene Acres Nursing Home, where she blossomed into a beloved social butterfly, always taking the time to engage with others and spread joy. Her vibrant spirit was a testament to her unyielding faith as a long-time member of 10th Street Baptist Church, where she found strength and community.

Lavada is survived by her devoted son, Jerry Montgomery, and one other son; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; as well as countless cousins, nephews, nieces and friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Harold Montgomery; parents, Benjamin and Lillian Gonser; daughter, Marie Faulkner; and nine brothers-Ervie, Arvel, Milen, James, J.W., Oneil, Odell, Eddie, and Dwight-along with three sisters-Carolyn Vaughn, Ina Gonser, and Juanita Wright.

A graveside service will be held to honor Lavada's memory at New Friendship Cemetery on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather as they celebrate her life and share cherished memories of a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Colt Montgomery, Bryson Montgomery, Jacob Montgomery, Keegan Moore, Shawn Montgomery, and Darrell Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Lavada's name, reflecting her spirit of giving and compassion.

Rest in peace, Lavada Marie Montgomery; you are now embraced by the love of those who have gone before you.
