Ret. Col. Larry Mac Pigue, age 85, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on June 2, 2026. He was born to Dewey and Wilma McDonald Pigue on December 2, 1940, in Paragould.
Larry obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Arkansas State University, and later a Master's Degree in Operational Research and Systems Analysis from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California.
After Larry completed ROTC, he was commissioned by the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Department of Army, Corp of Engineers. After twenty-six and a half years of service, he retired in 1990 as a full Colonel. In his tenure, he served overseas in Germany, Turkey, and London as the Liaison Officer between the US and UK. He also served two tours in Vietnam. After retirement from the military, he worked thirty years as a Program Manager for both SAIC and Parsons.
Larry was a member of Skyline Baptist Church, and he attended the chapel at Redstone Arsenal. Some of his special interests and hobbies include racquet ball and Barbershop Quartet singing. Larry was very active in "The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children," serving on the board for eighteen years.
Larry is survived by his spouse of 64 years, Janice E. Crook Pigue; daughters, Tammy Brannen of Huntsville, Alabama, Cathey Botwright and her husband, Nathan, of Virgina Beach, Virginia; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Brannen.
A visitation will be held in his honor at Heath Funeral Home on June 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM, where family and friends can gather to pay their respects and celebrate Larry's remarkable life. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Greene County Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM.
As we remember Colonel Larry Mac Pigue, we will carry forward the lessons he taught us about courage, integrity, and the importance of service to others. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
