Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Kwela Rhae McDonald, who left this world peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on April 20, 1972, in Paragould, Arkansas, Kwela was a cherished daughter, devoted mother, and beloved friend to many. She is survived by her daughters, Kiah Muniz and Jane Smith; her father, Darrell Campbell; her stepmother, Patricia Campbell; her grandchild, Lucian McDonald; and her close friend, Tami Downs.

Kwela was preceded in death by her husband, James McDonald; mother, Angela Campbell; sister, Kari Massing; and grandmother, Maxine Campbell.

Kwela was a warm-hearted soul whose love for others was boundless. She was known for her generosity, always finding ways to bring joy to those around her, whether through a thoughtful gift or a helping hand. Her passion for shopping was particularly evident; she took delight in selecting just the right items for her loved ones.

As a housewife, Kwela dedicated herself to her family, finding joy in the simple pleasures of motherhood. She reveled in motherhood and cherished every moment spent with her daughters. Alongside family, Kwela's faith held a central place in her life, and she was a dedicated member of Greater Vision, where she engaged deeply with her community and spiritual family.

Kwela also had an adventurous spirit, enjoying road trips across the Southeast, creating lasting memories in places like Louisiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Accompanied by her faithful dog, Cadence, she found companionship and comfort in their adventures together.

Kwela was married to her beloved husband, James, for 33 wonderful years. Their bond was a testament to love and devotion, and she longed to be reunited with him in eternal peace.

Kwela will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in eternal peace.
