K9 Bane was born on March 10, 2018, and raised in the Czech Republic where he began his life as a police K9 in training. K9 Bane was trained in obedience, apprehension and handler protection early in his life. In the fall of 2019, K9 Bane was transported to the United States where he was imported by trainer Blake Bristow of Blue Streak K9. There he began his training in illegal narcotics detection work as well as continued apprehension and obedience training.
Shortly after arrival to the United States and completion of his training, K9 Bane was selected to become the newest member of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. K9 Bane earned his certification in patrol and detection in March of 2020. From March 2020 until his retirement in February 2024, K9 Bane mostly worked alongside his handler, Deputy Zakk Crocker, and proudly served his community as a member of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force. K9 Bane participated in numerous assists for apprehensions and played a vital role in removing illegal drugs from the streets. Not only was K9 Bane a highly trained police dog, but he also worked within the community visiting schools and other events. K9 Bane touched the lives of many and will always be remembered for the diligent work he did in his community. K9 Bane will forever be in the hearts of all the members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force and the community in which he faithfully served.
A memorial service to honor K9 Bane's life and service will be Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 1 PM at Heath Funeral Home.
