Joy Faith Smith

December 21, 1956 — January 12, 2024

Joy Faith Smith, born on December 21, 1956, in Jonesboro, peacefully passed from this life on January 12, 2024. Her departure from this world brings a profound sadness to those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

A remarkable woman, Joy Faith led a life filled with passion, purpose, and a genuine love for others. From an early age, Joy Faith nurtured a deep connection with horses, finding joy in barrel racing and attending horse shows. As the years went by, she continued to find solace in casual rides and cherished her faithful companion, her beloved doberman, "Z".

Joy Faith had an exquisite taste for cooking, drawing inspiration from The Food Network, where she would glean ideas to delight her family and friends with delectable meals. She was an avid reader and could easily get lost in a good novel. She was a devout participant in Jazzercise, eagerly embracing the vibrant energy and rhythm of the dance workouts.

A lover of the arts, Joy Faith found comfort in the simple joys of watching timeless classics like Andy Griffith for hours at a time, losing herself in the comedic charm, and basking in the nostalgia of cherished westerns, most recently Yellowstone. Music flowed effortlessly through her veins, as she skillfully played the piano and lent her voice to the church choir at First United Methodist Church, where she worshipped God with her church community.

Joy Faith was a graduate of Greene County Tech and was a majorette during her high school years. Her commitment to education was unwavering, as she dedicated herself to shaping the minds of students. Her impact as a teacher extended beyond the classroom, leaving an undeniable legacy of knowledge and kindness.

A proud alumna of the University of Arkansas, Joy Faith treasured her time as a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Her love for her alma mater and the Razorbacks remained steadfast throughout her life.

Joy Faith Smith's memory will forever be cherished by her son, Justin (Maxine) Smith, daughter, Audra (Jerrod) Brown; grandchildren, Lawson and Catherine Brown and Vada and Lola Smith; brothers, Don (Carol) Wineland and Van Wineland; special cousin, Rucina Johnson; faithful sidekick, "Z"; and horses, Skipper and Fancy. Her warm smile, compassionate heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Clara Bell Wineland, and the father of her children and husband for 29 years, Paul Milton Smith.

Join us as we celebrate Joy Faith's remarkable life and bid her a fond farewell with a visitation at First United Methodist Church on January 18, 2024, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral will begin at 1:00 pm officiated by Revs. Dane Womack and Sarah Ellzey, where we will honor Joy Faith's life and pay tribute to the beautiful soul she was.

Joy Faith's earthly journey will conclude with a burial at Woods Chapel Cemetery where she will find eternal peace and rest. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jerrod Brown, Tony Rose, Alex Johnson, Trey Johnson, Terry Dicus, Blake Williams, Jeremy Williams, and Brent McCain. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Bradsher, Cody Gray, Tate Gray, Ron Hitt, Bernard Raley, and Dale Walters.

As we bid our dear Joy Faith farewell, let us remember her with joy and gratitude for the impact she had on our lives. In her memory, may we carry forward her love and her zest for life.
