John Mark (J-Rat) Jarrett, a beloved father and grandfather, departed this life on August 12, 2026, in his hometown of Paragould, Arkansas. Born on March 17, 1958, in Paragould, Mark was a proud graduate of Paragould High School, class of 1976, who carried the spirit of the Bulldog with him throughout his life.

Mark dedicated many years to serving as a Senior mechanic for the Arkansas Highway Department, where he became known for his exceptional skills and expertise. He was renowned for his ability to take things apart and put them back together with remarkable precision. He was well known for his pranks and for telling a great story. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mark was a passionate outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, particularly at the picturesque White River. Those who knew him will forever cherish his "shop talk" filled with technical talk and laughter.

Mark leaves behind a loving family, including his cherished daughter, Amy (Dustin Roach) Jarrett of Freeport, Florida; his adored grandson, Jasper Roach; his beloved dog, Scooter, and many dear cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine (Gerry) Collier Jarrett, and brother, Larry Coffman.

A service commemorating Mark's life will be scheduled at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived.
