John Thomas Fields, a beloved father, Papa, brother, and friend, left us too soon on Monday, August 24, 2026. John was born on August 19, 1968, in Kissimmee, Florida, and spent his life creating a legacy of hard work, love, and laughter.
John was a skilled carpenter, honing his craft in the construction industry for over 30 years. He had a passion for building and creating that was only outmatched by his love for his family. On July 8, 1990, he married his best friend, Tammy Atchley, and together they forged a beautiful life filled with shared dreams and adventures. John cherished his children, David, Brittney, and Sherrie, and was a proud and devoted father who always found joy in their accomplishments.
An easygoing spirit with a heart of gold, John loved nothing more than to kick back with a cold beer in hand, soaking up the sights and sounds of his favorite westerns. He had a fondness for the great outdoors and was an avid deer hunter, relishing the peace and quiet of nature. John's laughter and stories will undoubtedly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Fields, Sr. and Mary Dodson; bride of 35 years, Tammy Fields; and brother, Harry Fields, Jr., but leaves behind a loving family including children, David (Sara) Fields, Brittney (Rex) Maggard, and Sherrie (Larry) Bradley; grandchildren, Tanner, James, Cheyenne, Alex, Caleb, Conor, Karlee, Calvin, and Nevaeh; great grandson, K.D.; sisters, Sherrie Johnson and Rebeca Walker; brothers, Russell Fields and Jimmy Fields; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Each of them will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate John's life on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Heath Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 1 PM to 3 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3 PM. A private burial will take place afterward.
John's legacy is not in possessions, but in the family he loved, the memories he created, and the lives he touched. Until we meet again, Dad, may you rest peacefully with a cold beer in your hand, beneath an endless Western sky, surrounded by the love of the family you cherished so much.
