Jean Carolyn Jones, beloved sister, aunt, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026, in Paragould. Born on August 5, 1948, in Walcott, Jean was the daughter of a close-knit community that shaped her into the warm and caring individual we remember today. She graduated from Greene County Tech High School in 1967, laying the foundation for a life enriched by learning and service.
Jean married her true love, Joe, on July 17, 1971, and they shared a deep bond of affection until his passing in 2001. Their love story was a testament to devotion, and Jean often spoke fondly of their life together. They were involved with the Woodmen of the World Fraternal Society, where Joe served as a state officer. They enjoyed attending the conventions and meetings. One of Jean's favorite things to do was going to flea markets with Joe.
Jean dedicated over 20 years to the field of education, serving first as a Teacher's Assistant with the Leachville School District and subsequently at Buffalo Island Central. In later years, she extended her passion for teaching by working as a substitute teacher, positively impacting the lives of countless students along the way.
Beyond her professional life, Jean embraced her interests with the same enthusiasm she brought to her work. She found joy in solving word puzzles and playing Bingo at Chateau on the Ridge, where she cherished many social moments with friends.
A devoted member of the Walcott Baptist Church, Jean actively participated in her community and fostered connections that enriched her life. She will be deeply missed by her surviving relatives, including her sister-in-law, Rita Adams; nephew, Neal (Jamie) Adams; nieces, Loranne (Brock) Atwill and Carol (Danny) Bradshaw; niece-in-law, Amy Adams and several great nephews and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jason and Ruby Adams; husband, Joe Jones; brother, Larry Adams; and nephew, Steve Adams.
The visitation will be held at Walcott Baptist Church on Saturday, October 17, 2026, commencing at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Jean will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
In honor of Jean's life and legacy, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Association at PO Box 98, Walcott, AR 72474. Jean Carolyn Jones will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, dedication to education, and the loving relationships she built throughout her life. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Chateau on the Ridge and Belle Meade for their care and support over the past several years.
