Jamie Mathis

August 5, 1978 — August 4, 2025

It is with profound sadness and a celebration of life that we announce the passing of Jamie Leigh Mathis on August 4, 2025, just one day shy of her 47th birthday. Born on August 5, 1978, in San Bernardino, California, Jamie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose spirit touched the lives of everyone around her.

Jamie graduated from Ridgecrest High School in 1996 and spent over a decade as a dedicated caretaker in the home health industry. Her passion for caring for others was evident in both her professional and personal life, where she nurtured not only those in need but also her house plants which were filled with an array of beautiful plants and flowers. Her remarkable ability to cultivate life reflected a nurturing spirit that resonated with all who knew her.

A talented artist, Jamie expressed her creativity through drawing and painting, leaving behind a legacy of stunning artwork that will continue to inspire. She had a unique talent for transforming any space with her well-honed eye for decorating, ensuring that every room felt welcoming and full of life while always adding her own personal touch.

Family was at the heart of Jamie's world. Whether she was spending quality time with her children or joyfully doting on her granddaughter, Jamie cherished every moment with her loved ones. Her love for family outings, including thrift store shopping adventures, created lasting memories that will forever be treasured.

Jamie was attending Central Baptist Church Paragould Campus, where she found her spiritual home and developed deep connections within her soul.

Jamie is survived by her devoted husband, Christopher Mathis; her loving children, Brianna Rickey, Jeromy Mead Rickey, Anthony James Rickey, and Hayden Don (Mattie) Mathis; and her adored granddaughter, Ellie Mathis. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Michelle Eastep, Kristina Moss, and Shawneen Moss; her brother, Michael Long; the father of her children, Jeromy Rickey, along with an extended family and numerous friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael Long and Robin Moss Millay, and her grandmother who raised her, Dolores "Pug" Moss.

A visitation will be Thursday evening, August 14, 2025, from 5-7 at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, August 15, 2025, at 10 AM at Heath Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather as we share stories, reflect on her incredible life, and come together in love and remembrance.
