Jay Ussery

Jay Ussery, 78, went to be with his Savior on July 24,2024. Jay was born on May 7, 1946, to the L.C. and Velma Ussery (Gazaway).

Jay will forever be loved and missed by his wife of 55 years, Sherma Ussery (Ellington), his daughter, and son-in-law, Scott and Autumn Sanson of Vilonia, AR and his son and daughter-in-law, Snapper and Sarah Ussery of Knoxville, TN.

Jay’s most treasured role in life was that of “Papa”. He deeply loved his grandchildren, Ridge, Jett, and Sage Sanson (Autumn) and Briggs, Pierson, and McGuire Ussery (Snapper). Jay was a proud member of the United States Army and was fiercely patriotic and grateful to all veterans who served and serve in all branches of the military. He instilled that same respect in his kids and grandchildren. Jay was a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ, where he taught bible classes and served as a deacon for several years.

He will be greatly missed, but our hearts will forever hold memories of fishing together, singing oldies, especially The Beach Boys, and his great love of watching his kids and grandkids play sports.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Fellowship Hall at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ, beginning at 2:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life immediately after.
