Harold Wayne Finch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and farmer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on June 8, 1939, in Jonesboro to the late Adren and Geneva Edgar Finch, Harold dedicated his life to agriculture and the love of his family.
After graduating from Jonesboro High School in 1957, Harold briefly attended college before enlisting in the Navy. Unfortunately, his service was cut short due to health concerns, which led him back to his roots in Arkansas, where he embraced a life of farming. For 57 years, Harold tended to the land, nurturing both crops and the family he cherished so deeply.
In addition to farming, Harold had a passion for drag racing, often spending weekends at George Ray's Dragstrip in Paragould. His love for the sport was evident in his dedication to building and racing Chevrolet Novas, including a meticulously crafted 1965 model and a 1974 iteration Harold built himself. Known for his remarkable skills, he took great pleasure in dismantling and rebuilding various machines, earning a reputation as a handy craftsman who could fix almost anything.
Harold possessed an extraordinary memory, often recounting anecdotes from his life, such as the first time he tasted pizza or a taco. These cherished memories are something his family will hold dear as they reflect on his remarkable life.
On November 15, 1973, Harold married his beloved bride, Rita Wright Finch. Together, they cultivated a loving family, celebrating 52 years of marriage filled with devotion and joy. Harold is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Shaun (Amanda) Finch of Paragould; daughter, Tara (Dillon) Hess of Jonesboro; and his precious grandchildren, Braden Finch, Gabby Finch, Piper Finch, Decker Hess, Ellisyn Hess, and Deacon Hess. He is also survived by his brother, Tom (Pat) Finch of Jonesboro; nephew, Mike (Tracy) Finch of Paragould; niece, Jerri (James) Barte of Greenwood; several great nephews and great nieces; and many cherished friends.
Harold Wayne Finch will be remembered not only for his contributions to agriculture but also for the profound love he shared with his family and friends.
A visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 6-8 PM at Heath Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Philadelphia Cemetery in Jonesboro on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 10 AM, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects. In honor of Harold, please send memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Harold's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and community will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
