It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gerald Dean Mason, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who left this world in a tragic accident alongside his beloved wife, Judy Mason, at their home in Marmaduke. Gerald was born on October 6, 1936, in Fort Smith and departed from this life on May 5, 2025, at the age of 88.
Gerald was a man of great dedication and passion, having devoted over 50 years to a successful career as a truck driver, attaining the esteemed status of a member of the Million Mile Club. His commitment to his work reflected his steadfast character and strong work ethic. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Gerald proudly served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, demonstrating a commitment to service that marked his character throughout his life.
Married to his beloved bride, Judy, for 45 wonderful years, Gerald cherished every moment spent with her. Together, they built a loving family that includes their children, Anita (Tommy) Barnes, Perry (Dina) Mason, Lynn Mason, Renea (Justin) Mason-Benge, and a granddaughter they raised as a daughter, Katie (Chris) Leonard. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, Mandy (Kevin) Lindsey, Perry "PJ" (Sarah) Mason, Jr., Brandon (Ashley) Mason, David Woody, Garrett Hoyt, Heidi (Matthew) Rohe, and Megan (James) Thompson, as well as his numerous great-grandchildren, Emily Leonard, Lexi Livingston, Jensen and Blaire Lindsey, Cael, Isla, Inga, and Iris Rohe, and Ronan and Declan Thompson, who brought him endless joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Mason and Kate Sheesley, and five brothers and sisters.
Gerald will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his numerous stories of the road, and his commitment to his country. He touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed.
Memorial services for Gerald and Judy Mason will be held on Saturday, May 10th at noon at Heath Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate their remarkable lives and to offer support and comfort to each other during this difficult time.
Gerald's legacy of love, service, and dedication to family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
