Freddie Allen "Fred" Barnes, aged 79, of Paragould, passed from this life on Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born on August 21, 1945, to the late Otis and Loie Cook Barnes. Fred was a cherished dad and Pawpaw, devoted friend, and a beloved member of his community, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a passion for life lived in the great outdoors.

A proud graduate of Keiser High School, Fred married his true love, Cathy Wells, on July 10, 1964. Together, they built a love and family that blessed their lives for 47 years until her passing.

Fred dedicated 25 years of his life to serving as a firefighter with the Paragould Fire Department, where he was known not only for his bravery but also for his friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a helping hand. His experiences as a firefighter were just one aspect of a life that celebrated camaraderie and service to others.

Fred was an avid outdoorsman who relished every moment spent hunting and fishing. He particularly enjoyed duck hunting and dove hunting, finding peace and joy in the natural world. In addition to his love for outdoor pursuits, he was a remarkable conversationalist, often engaging anyone he met in hours of lively discussions.

Above all, Fred treasured his family. He deeply valued his time with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that would be cherished for generations to come. Fred's warmth extended beyond his family; he built connections with friends and community members, taking pleasure in sharing stories and experiences with those around him.

A man of deep faith, Fred attended Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro, where he found support and community. His strong beliefs guided him in his interactions and shaped a life committed to kindness and generosity.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Debbie Rogers; sons, Jimmie (Tonya) Barnes and Alan (Michelle) Barnes; grandchildren, Christopher (Holly) Rogers, Brandon (Tiffany) Rogers, Courtney (Logan) Sapp, Kacey (Bethany) Barnes, Cody Barnes, Taylor (Beau) Gramling, and Brooke Barnes; great grandchildren, Wolf Rogers, Atlas Rogers, Emma Rogers, Isabella Rogers, Blake Leigh Sapp, Gray Gramling, and Gatlan Gramling; sister, Delores Pankey; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and dear friends. He was preceded in death in by parents; wife, Cathy Wells Barnes; and brothers, Jimmie and Larry Barnes.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10-11:30 AM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 11:30 with Rev. Royce Boling officiating. Burial will follow with Fire Department Honors at Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers are Christopher Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Kacey Barnes, Cody Barnes, Logan Sapp, and Beau Gramling. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of the Paragould Fire Department.

Fred Barnes will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, love for the outdoors, and the profound impact he had on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
