Fred Stanfill, Jr., lovingly known as "Junior," passed peacefully into his Heavenly home on May 3, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on August 24, 1941, in Greene County, he lived a full and meaningful life marked by hard work, deep love for his family, and simple joys that brought him happiness each day.
Junior was a man who believed in the value of honest work. Known for always working with his hands, he spent several years as a mechanic for Frolic Footwear before building a legacy of his own by co-founding Stanfill Trucking Company alongside his brothers. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took great pride in providing for those he loved.
Family was the center of Junior's world. He was devoted to his wife of 63 years, Jane Stanfill, and found his greatest joy in his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his granddaughter and great-grandchildren deeply and never missed an opportunity to spoil them or brag on their accomplishments. He would do anything for his family, and his love for them was evident in every part of his life.
Junior was also known for his sense of humor. He had a natural way of making people laugh and could lighten any room with his quick wit and playful spirit. Whether it was a joke, a story, or simply his presence, he brought joy to those around him and will be remembered for the laughter he shared so freely.
He found peace in the simple things-watching and feeding birds, sitting on his back porch, and enjoying a cold Dr Pepper. He had a lifelong love for animals and cared for many cats and dogs over the years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane (Hooper) Stanfill; his parents, Fred and Mary Jane (Dillon) Stanfill; his brothers, Euel, Carlton T., Carl B., Leland, and Orvil; and his son-in-law, Gary Lewis.
He is survived by his daughter, Alice Jane Lewis; his granddaughter, Crystal (Mark) Burrow; his great-granddaughter, Karley Burrow; his great-grandson, Jaxon Burrow; and his sister, Carolyn (Dewayne) Winn, as well as his best friends, Woody & Nora Woodsmall.
Funeral services to honor Junior's life will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Heath Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Aaron Neugebauer. A time of visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Following the service, Junior will be laid to rest at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mark Burrow, Jaxon Burrow, Payne Greer, Woody Woodsmall, Tim Williams, and Greg Forehand.
Junior will be remembered for his strength, his generosity, his humor, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in each of them.
