Eunice Jane Cothren, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in her lifelong hometown of Paragould. Born on March 8, 1936, in Paragould, she was the cherished daughter of Milton and Audrey McDaniel and a shining example of love and resilience throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Greene County Tech in 1954, Eunice began her journey as a beautician and even opened her own shop. In 1957, she married her dear love, Frank Cothren. Together, they would share 68 beautiful years of marriage until his passing earlier this year. Eunice transitioned into her role as an insurance administrator at Community Methodist Hospital, where she dedicated herself to her work through the hospital's transformation into Arkansas Methodist Hospital. Her hands were not only skilled in business but also in artistry, as she later opened a ceramic shop next to their home, showcasing her creative spirit.
Eunice found immense joy and fulfillment in her passions, particularly in quilting. She spent countless hours refining her craft, attending quilting shows, and taking classes with friends. Her sewing machine was often a companion, stitching together not just pieces of fabric but also memories and stories.
Beyond her career and hobbies, Eunice's greatest pride and joy were her family. She poured her heart into raising her grandchildren and embraced the role of a doting great-grandmother. Her home was always open to visits, and each moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was considered pure treasure.
A long-time and faithful member of the First Church of God, Eunice's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and commitment to her community.
Eunice is survived by her sons, Randy (Sandi) Cothren and Gary (Christy) Cothren; grandchildren, Benny (Courtney) Cothren, Chelsea Cothren-Martinez, Kristen (T.J.) Hedge, Brandy Walker, Charity Hudson, and Shea (Terry) Thompson; great grandchildren, Belle Cothren, Harper Martinez, Brenlynn Cothren, Abbey Martinez, Layne Hedge, Josh Adams, Addie Hedge, Kylee Lyles, Caleb Thompson, Camden Thompson, Bailey (Jacob) Latchaw, Madyson Goodman, Conner Goodman, and Aiden Gray; great-great grandchild, Alba Latchaw; and brother, Leonard McDaniel.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Audrey Norton McDaniel; husband, Frank Cothren; and brother, Judson McDaniel.
A private service will be held in her honor at Greene County Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest.
As we remember Eunice, let us embrace the joy she brought into our lives and carry forward her legacy of love and passion for family. She will be profoundly missed yet forever cherished in our hearts.
