Ernestine Lila Dicus Fitzgerald, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on November 25, 1929, in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, she spent her life in the heart of the community she cherished, Paragould, Arkansas.

With a steadfast spirit, Ernestine dedicated over 40 years of her life to the Ely Walker Shirt Factory, where her work ethic and craftsmanship left a lasting impression on her colleagues. Ernestine was an ardent lover of sewing, quilting, and crochet, creating beautiful works of art that brought warmth and comfort to those around her.

Ernestine was a devoted member of the West View Baptist Church, where her faith and commitment to her beliefs provided her with strength and solace. Known for her nurturing nature, she loved to garden, particularly relishing in the beauty of colorful flowers that adorned her yard.

A passionate reader, she found joy and inspiration within the pages of her Bible. Along with her many talents, Ernestine enjoyed the camaraderie of playing bingo, where laughter and friendly competition filled her days.

Preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Storey and Velma Jackson; husband, Donald Fitzgerald; sister, Betty Carnes; brothers, Ray and A.J. Storey; and son-in-law, DeWayne Weese, she is survived by her son, Ronald Dicus; daughter, Linda Weese; step-daughter, Carol Fitzgerald Vines; grandchildren, Shannon Dicus, Marty Dicus, Phillip Weese, and Jonathan Weese; 9 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, creativity, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those she cherished.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. Public visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Marc Reeves at 1:00 PM, followed by burial at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

In this time of mourning, family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life and memory of Ernestine Lila Dicus Fitzgerald-a woman of profound strength, grace, and love.
