Dorothy Mooney

March 15, 1951 — May 5, 2025

Dorothy Mae Mooney, age 74, of Kennett, Missouri, passed away on May 5, 2025. Born on March 15, 1951, in Parkin, Arkansas, she was a cherished daughter, devoted mother, and beloved grandmother and great-grandmother.

Dorothy was a dedicated veterinary assistant at the Shenandoah Valley Veterinary Clinic, where her love for animals was evident to all. She had a particular affinity for her pets and once lovingly cared for as many as 31 cats. Her compassion extended beyond animals; she was known for her generous heart and tireless dedication to caring for those in need. Family was the cornerstone of her life, and her kitchen was a gathering place for loved ones, filled with warmth, laughter, and the delightful aromas of her cooking.

Dorothy nurtured her family with love, leaving behind her two daughters, Angela McClain and Dorothy Kern, her son George Mooney, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christin McClain, Amber (Kevin) Kuligowski, Derrick (Sarah Patridge) McClain, Crystal (Jeremy) Adams, Ceisha Kern, Zedrick Kern, Cedrick Kern, Sedrick Kern, and great-grandchildren Zoey McClain, Tommy McClain, Cacey Kern, Tylan Moore, Bryson Moore, Addilyn Mabry, Rylie Mabry, Karson Kuligowski, Lizzy Kuligowski; nieces, Lucresha Wells and Catina (Macy) Brown; extended family, Shalayah (Maurice) Diaz, Makayla Diaz, Mackenzie Diaz, Jackson Wells, Geo Brown, and  numerous adopted grandkids (including Sarah Siebenhuener and Dakota Carr), nieces, nephews, and her partner, Mel Carr.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Idell Blakely; father, Odell Campbell; sons, Victor Mooney and Steven Mooney; and siblings, Donnie Morrow and Linda Islam.

An ardent gardener, Dorothy took great pride in her flower beds, which were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. In addition to her love for family and animals, Dorothy found solace in her beliefs as both a Christian and a Buddhist, embodying a unique blend of spirituality that shaped her kind and compassionate nature.

Dorothy Mae Mooney will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family and animals will forever remain in our hearts.
