Donald Coleman Nutt passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born on November 25, 1951, to Vaughn and Dorothy Nutt. A lifelong example of dedication, humility, and love for family, Don lived a life rooted in hard work and quiet pride.
Don was a graduate of Paragould High School and attended Arkansas State University. He also proudly served as a member of the National Guard. In 1973, he married his soulmate, Sheila, beginning a marriage built on love, commitment, and partnership that spanned 52 years.
Don spent thirty-five years driving for Emerson Transportation Division, a career he approached with integrity and responsibility. In 2003, his exceptional professionalism was recognized when he was inducted into the National Private Truck Council's Driver Hall of Fame and has logged more than four million miles in his career, an honor that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication to doing things the right way.
After retirement, Don treasured time at the lake and traveling with Sheila. Above all, he was a devoted husband, Daddy and Papa. He could always be found making memories with his family-fishing, riding four-wheelers, sledding, tubing, and faithfully attending school functions, baseball games, and football games. His presence was constant, his support unwavering.
Don was a faithful member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and valued his community deeply. He was known not only for his strong work ethic, but also for the friendships he built, many of whom he considered family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila Nutt; his daughter, Holly (Erick) Stokes; and his two grandsons, Erick Blaine Stokes and Hayden Gary Don Stokes, as well as numerous friends he considered family.
