Deryl Thomas Carter, affectionately known as "Tommy," was born on March 12, 1946, in Hanford, California, and peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in Paragould. He will be forever remembered for his boundless spirit and philanthropy.

Tommy graduated from Crowley's Ridge Academy in 1964, after which he earned his bachelor's degree and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. A talented carpenter, he made a significant mark in the construction industry as a gifted builder, known for creating homes and developing subdivisions that warmly enveloped families in their embrace.

A man of many passions, Tommy cherished time spent at the lake, where the beauty of nature mirrored his larger-than-life persona. His dedication to wildlife conservation shone through his extensive involvement with Ducks Unlimited. As state chairman, he made a lasting impact, being the first to attend meetings in all 75 Arkansas counties, tirelessly working on the Major Gift Committee to support this vital cause. Tommy's passion for Ducks Unlimited was encapsulated in his spirited bidding at auctions, particularly for the first official DU license plate issued by the state of Arkansas, #001.

Tommy was known for his vibrant personality and warm demeanor, touching the lives of all those he met. A dear friend once remarked, "No one will ever forget meeting Tommy Carter!" His legacy of kindness and engagement with others will forever resonate in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

Tommy is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Kathi Carter; four loving sons, Deryl Carter, Mark (Rhenda) Carter, Brian (Emily) Carter, and Matt (Christy) Martin; and a cherished brother, Alan (Rita) Carter. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandsons, Drew Carter, Hayden (Katie) Carter, Will Carter, Colton Martin, and Elliott Martin, as well as his great-grandson, Caden Carter. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Hayden and Nora Lay Carter; sister, Gay Carter; and niece, Mitzi Gramling.

As we plan to celebrate the extraordinary life of Deryl Thomas Carter, a visitation will be held at Heath Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 4-6 PM. Instead of flowers, please make a donation to something close to your heart.

Though Tommy has departed from this world, his spirit will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. May his memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege to know him.
