Daniel Gene Freeman, a beloved teacher, devoted brother, and proud Air Force veteran, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born on December 14, 1938, in Marmaduke to the late A.L. and Ola Dell Freeman. Daniel Gene was a man of many passions. He loved to fish and enjoyed coon hunting, finding solace in the great outdoors. Graduating from Marmaduke High School, he later pursued his Bachelor of Science in Education from Arkansas State University, a testament to his dedication to his craft.
After proudly serving in the United States Air Force, Daniel found his true calling as an educator. Throughout his career, he touched the lives of countless students in Kennett, Van Buren, and Risco, leaving an indelible mark on the communities he served.
Daniel is survived by his brother, Glen Freeman of Paragould; nephew, Rev. Breck (Jackie) Freeman of Paragould; niece, Bridget (Scott) Barton of Ormond Beach, Florida; step-son, Jess (Robin) Laughlin of Van Buren, Missouri; and step-grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, and Morgan Laughlin, all of Van Buren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alfredia Freeman; and sister-in-law, Marsha Freeman.
In a celebration of his life, a visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 1-2 PM at Heath Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke for a graveside funeral beginning at 2:30 PM with Rev. Dave White officiating.
