Clavious "Clayton" L. Vanoven, Jr., a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2024, at the age of 33. Clayton was born on May 10, 1990, in Jonesboro to Clay Vanoven and Carolyn Spencer.


Deeply committed to his work, Clayton was a factory worker and a skilled construction worker, mastering the art of various trades throughout his career. A true jack of all trades, he approached each task with unwavering dedication and a desire to bring excellence to his endeavors.


During his younger years, Clayton found joy and camaraderie in sports, particularly basketball and football. Excelling on the court and field, he displayed both skill and passion for the game, leaving lasting memories within the community. Clayton's love for sports remained a constant throughout his life, inspiring those around him to find joy in physical activity.


In 2009, Clayton graduated from Rose Bud High School, marking a significant milestone in his educational journey. As he ventured into adulthood, he embarked on a unique and exciting path, contributing his talents to different industries, always adaptable and ready to face new challenges.


Beyond his professional life, Clayton was known for his deep appreciation of nature and the great outdoors. A seasoned hunter and fisherman, he found solace amidst the beauty and serenity of the wilderness. Clayton was particularly fond of spending time at the beach, where the sound of crashing waves brought him a sense of peace and tranquility.


Clayton will be remembered as a compassionate, reflective, and genuine individual who touched the lives of many. His warm smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering loyalty will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.


Clayton leaves behind his wife, Amanda; mother, Carolyn Steffey; daughters, Jemma and Cahomie McChristiansen; sisters, Ashley Vanoven, April Brown, and Alice Christiansen; brothers, Lee Steffey and Eddie Thomas; nephew, Braylen Vanoven; nieces, Paisley Vanoven and Olivia Fincher; and step-mother, Helen Mae Vanoven. Clayton was prededed in death by his father, Clay Vanoven, Sr.; grandpa, James L. Vanoven, Sr.; grandma, Katherine Lucas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.


To honor Clayton's memory, a visitation will be held on February 5, 2024, from 5-7 PM at Heath Funeral Home. This time together will provide an opportunity for friends, loved ones, and acquaintances to come together, sharing stories and memories, as they pay their respects.


Clayton will forever be missed and remembered as someone who brought warmth and light into the lives of those he encountered. May his legacy endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
