Clara Ellen Cone, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in Memphis. Born on January 4, 1936, to the late Jim and Goldie Box Garner, Clara grew up in Paragould. She married her true love, Jimmie Cone, on July 4, 1956. She dedicated her life to the nurturing of children, operating an in-home daycare that brought joy and comfort to numerous families in the community. Affectionately known as "Ta Ta" by the children she cared for, she created a warm and loving environment where each child felt special and cherished.
Clara had a passion for shopping-she delighted in exploring outlet stores and yard sales, always on the hunt for the next treasure to bring home. If given the chance, she would shop nonstop, all day long. She considered Belk as her second home. No deal was too far or inconvenient. When possible, she would attend Bethel Station Baptist Church. Her exuberant spirit and infectious laughter will forever be remembered by those who knew her.
She was the proud mother of two children, Tammie Clark and Allen (Tiffanie) Cone, and a devoted grandmother to Zebedee Cone, Jay (Breanna) Clark, Robert Clark, Jude Wilcox, and Tessa Wilcox. Clara's love for her grandchildren was profound; she cherished every moment spent with them, showering them with affection and love. She is also survived by her sister, Estel Spain, and many nephews and nieces. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Janet Clements.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 6-8 PM at Heath Funeral Home, allowing family and friends to pay their respects. The funeral service will be Monday, November 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Heath Funeral Home, followed by interment at Shiloh Cemetery.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the White Cottage at the Green House Cottages of Belle Meade. They took excellent care of Clara, took her outside daily, and made sure she had ice cream every day. Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
As we gather to honor her life and legacy, we remember a woman who touched the hearts of many and whose love will remain everlasting.
