Carl Bailey

February 5, 1939 — April 18, 2024

Carl E. Bailey Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed from this life on April 18, 2024. Born to Earl and Nelsie Bailey in Light on February 5, 1939, Carl lived a humble and enriching life, full of love and laughter. Throughout the years, he faced life's challenges with unwavering courage and grace.

After completing his education at Stanford High School in 1957, Carl married the love of his life, Margie Galbreath, on February 28, 1959, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that would span over six decades. Although his path initially led him to carpentry due to his father's lumber company, Carl discovered his true calling as a dedicated truck driver for Emerson Electric, where he spent 29 fulfilling years behind the wheel.

Beyond the hum of the open road, Carl found comfort in the great outdoors, where he relished in hunting, fishing, camping trips, and lakeside adventures. His warm heart knew no bounds, and he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his family, finding joy and fulfillment in the company of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Known for his selflessness, Carl was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and make a difference in the lives of those around him.

Throughout his journey, Carl remained a devoted member of the West Light Church of Christ, finding peace and fellowship within its walls. His presence on earth will be sorely missed by all who knew him, as his kindness and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, J.D. Bailey and Billy Bailey.

Carl is survived by his loving bride of 65 years, Margie Bailey; son, Emanual (Judy) Bailey of Light; daughters, Jeanne (Stan) Mize of Paragould and Lisa (Jeff) Fry of Light; grandchildren, Mitchell (Rebecca) Mize of Memphis, Tennessee, Brandi Mize of Atlanta, Georgia, Carleton (Kristen) Bailey of Benton, Arkansas, Lauren Fry of Light, and Jordan Fry of Light; great granddaughters, Julia and Edie Mize of Memphis; brothers, Boyd Bailey of Walnut Ridge and Jerry Bailey of Light; sisters, Pat Myrick of Stanford, Beverly Tedder of Walnut Ridge, and Marilyn Crafton of Walnut Ridge; and numerous nephews and nieces.
