Brenda Doris Walker

October 5, 1942 — January 10, 2024

Brenda Doris Walker, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and dedicated bus driver, peacefully passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on October 5, 1942, in Monette, Arkansas, Doris was the epitome of strength, compassion, and determination throughout her remarkable life.

Doris will forever be remembered for her 33 years of service as a bus driver for Greene County Tech. Known for her unwavering dedication, she drove the #1 bus, always leading the line and ensuring the safety and well-being of countless students. With her warm smile and caring nature, she became a familiar face in the community, touching the lives of many.

Outside of work, Doris, or Nana as she was affectionately known by many, had a deep love for animals, particularly her cherished horses, dogs, and cats. She found joy and solace in their companionship, often spending her free time caring for them and creating lasting memories. Doris's passion extended to her involvement with 4-H, where she shared her knowledge and enthusiasm with the younger generations, leaving a lasting impact.

Family was at the center of Doris's world, and she showered her daughters, Tammy Vincent and Alicia (Scott) Kappelman, with endless love and support. Her granddaughters, Jennifer and Ashley Kappelman, and great-grandson, Walker Kappelman, held a special place in her heart. Doris cherished every moment spent with them, always guiding and encouraging them to chase their dreams.

Doris's legacy will forever be honored and cherished by her surviving sister, Katheren (Doug) Richardson, niece, Wendy Richardson, and uncle, Harold (Janice) Walker, along with a host of friends and colleagues whose lives she impacted so profoundly. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond "W.R." and Levelva Fay Walker, and her brother, Jerry Walker.

Raised in a Baptist household, Doris's faith provided her with the strength and guidance she needed throughout her journey. Her unwavering belief in the power of God's love gave her comfort, and she found solace in attending church services and connecting with her community.

A celebration of Doris's life will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, with a visitation from at 12-1 pm at Heath Funeral Home. A procession will lead to Shiloh Cemetery for a graveside funeral at 1:30 pm with Rev. Dennis Strope officiating.
