Billy Gene Mcpherson

Billy Gene McPherson , 90, of Paragould, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. He was born in Marmaduke on October 30, 1933, to the late John and Lorinda McPherson. Gene graduated from Greene County Tech High School in 1953. He became a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict after his friends and neighbors requested him to serve. Gene married Mary Inez Stout on June 28, 1963. He spent his career working more than 34 years at Emerson Electric. Gene enjoyed mowing his yard and going to flea markets. He loved classic cars, and he was a founding member of the Crowley's Ridge Cruisers. His pride and joy was his 1964 Ford Galaxie. He would drive his car in parades all around northeast Arkansas with his children and grandchildren riding alongside him. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Lorinda McPherson; wife of 56 years, Inez McPherson; and brothers, Doyle and Harold McPherson.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Melinda (Marlin) Dixon of Paragould; son, David (Jennifer) McPherson of Paragould; grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Collier of Paragould, Morgan McPherson of Paragould, and Michael (Gabby) Dixon of Walnut Ridge; great grandsons, Jackson Collier and Graham Collier; and several nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 10, 2023, from 12-1 PM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 1 PM with Rev. Michael Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens. To honor Gene, please send memorials to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
