April Sunshine Thorn, born on June 14, 1978, in Paragould, Arkansas, passed away on October 16, 2025. A beloved fiance, daughter, sister, and mother, April was a remarkable individual whose life was characterized by her immense kindness, unwavering loyalty, love of music, and a gentle heart that touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
April was often described as a "red-headed firecracker," reflecting her vibrant spirit and the warmth she shared with those around her. Though she presented a tough exterior, those closest to her knew of her tender-hearted nature.
A devoted mother, April cherished her daughter, Hanna Brewer (Elysa Bonner), and was a pillar of strength for her family, which included her fiance Johnathan Fletcher, her brothers Jonathan (JD) and William Brewer, her sisters Rachel (James) Ness and Rhonda Brewer, and several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. April's loyalty made her a steadfast companion, the kind of person everyone wanted in their corner. She had a special gift for making others feel recognized and loved, always taking the time to pick out the perfect card or offering a listening ear to those in need.
April was preceded in death by her mother, Reva Ness; step-father, Norman Ness; father, Jimmy Brewer, grandmothers, Ellen Thomas and Evelyn Brewer; uncles and aunts, Richard Thomas, Kenneth Oden, Betty Cambron, Mildred Butler, and Teresa Oden; and her niece, Anaiah Phillips.
Her faith in Jesus was a guiding force in her life. April was known to approach strangers with genuine compassion, sharing her experiences and extending the hope of Jesus' love to lift their spirits. This naturally considerate spirit was evident in every aspect of her life, as she would readily drop everything to support a friend or family member.
In the kitchen, April shone brightly, particularly her signature dishes of beans, ribs, cabbage, and fried potatoes, which brought joy to family gatherings. She had a playful sweet tooth, and her passion for creating a warm, inviting home was reflected in the spotless cleanliness she maintained.
April was a unifying force, always striving to gather family and friends together, demonstrating her belief that cherished moments were meant to be shared. Her ability to connect made her someone who never knew a stranger; she could turn any encounter into a lasting friendship. But she also had a fiery streak and would passionately stand up for those who needed someone to defend them.
The family will hold funeral services to honor April's life and legacy, and further details will be shared soon.
