Amon Rolan Rogers, 80, of Paragould passed away Friday, January 17, 2020, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House surrounded by his family.

Rolan was born in Jonesboro, December 11, 1939. He was a 1958 graduate of Jonesboro High School, where he was quite the athlete. After graduation, he served our country in the U.S. Army.

Rolan worked for Wheeler Brick Co. for 35 years. His final and most enjoyable job was working on the golf course at Paragould Country Club, which he took much pride in. He spent most of his life participating in, coaching and officiating many sports including baseball, football, softball, bowling, volleyball, fishing and golf. All of which he loved very much, and enjoyed with his friends and family. He was known and will be remembered by many as “Robear” and “Rock”. He loved spending time with his family and actually coached all of his children playing Little League baseball. He was affectionately known as “Peepaw” to his grandchildren, who he was so proud of and loved being able to watch them play in their various sports and other activities.

He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Aubrey and Juanita Rogers; mother and step-father, Clifford and Swanson Bone; sisters, Dr. Sandra Bone, and Doris Bone Cady, brother in-laws; Wayne Smith and Bill Kemp; and in-laws, E. Ray and Mel Kemp.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Kemp Rogers of the home. His children; Bryan (Jill) Rogers, Cindy Cook, Barry Rogers and Blake (Shanda) Rogers, grandchildren; Shea Cook, Rachel Rogers, Cade Rogers, Cydney Rogers and Brooklyn Turnage; and Donna Kaye Rogers, the mother of his children, all of Jonesboro. Siblings: Paula Bone Smith of Little Rock, AR, Kay (Larry) Sinor of Shingles Springs, CA, Wayne Rogers of Sacramento, CA, Linda (Dan) Taylor of Rigby, ID, and Patti (Mike) Rogers-Wright of Central Point, OR. Brother in-laws; David Cady of Katy, TX, Dan and Michael Kemp of Little Rock, AR. He is also survived by many friends and close golfing buddies, whose friendships he cherished greatly.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. The family would like to thank Dr. Don Howard, Dr Ben Owens, Jr., and the wonderful staff at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House and St. Bernard’s hospital, who took excellent care of him during his final days.
