Amanda Susan (Hart) Gramling, 64, of Rogers, Arkansas and formerly of Paragould, Arkansas passed away September 22, 2018. She faced a recent cancer diagnosis with unshakeable faith, unwavering strength, and an inspiring sense of hope.
Amanda was born in Palm Springs, California to her mother, Waive Hart, and her father, Lloyd Hart, who's memory she cherished dearly. As a teenager, Amanda came to live with relatives in Paragould, Arkansas. Forever the consummate caregiver, Amanda worked for many years as a nurse, before trading in her career to care for the every need of the family she loved so fiercely. In 2012, Amanda and family moved to Rogers, Arkansas where she lived the remainder of her time in the presence of her loving husband, children, grandchildren, pets, and with the Lord by her side.
Amanda was a talented artist, a terrific pianist, and a testament to true faith in Christ. Friends and family know Amanda as a great conversationalist and an amazing listener. Whether it was one of her multi-hour phone calls, or a text message that read more like a novel, she always provided an exchange that soothed, renewed, and redoubled your spirit. The recipients of these messages are forever enriched through the laughter she provided, the confidence she instilled, and the innumerable memories imparted.
Above all, Amanda's first and foremost joy was her family. She forged unique bonds with each and every child, grandchild and pet. Recent years have seen "mom" exchanged for "mother", "mama," "nanny," "nan", and many more names as her fold expanded, relationships deepened, and her ever-increasing wisdom was called upon by each and every one of her family members. Her legacy will live on through the glue she used to bind together a family who loved her without bound.
Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Waive, and her sister, Brenda Jackson, all of California. Amanda is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Steve, her children, Regina (Petty) Smith of Paragould, Josh Petty of Shawnee, OK, daughter Stephanie (Michael) Sellers of Bella Vista, and son, Alex (Christy) Gramling of Rogers, grandchildren, Alexis Petty of Fayetteville, Madison Petty of Jonesboro, Mackenzie Petty of Cumming, GA, Ethan Gramling of Rogers, Maizey Sellers of Bella Vista and Grace Smith, Brandon Smith and Samantha Smith all of Paragould. Amanda also leaves behind her precious Pepper Sue, a cream sable Pomeranian who's outsized personality rivals Amanda's.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 25th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 26th at 10:30 am in the chapel with Revs. Marion Gramling and Nathan Gramling officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Amanda's memory to the American Cancer Society.
