Alma Nora Johnson

June 21, 1930 — February 1, 2024

Alma Johnson, a beloved mother, cherished grandmother, and adored great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on February 1, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on June 21, 1930, in the serene town of Childress, Arkansas, Alma brought joy and warmth to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Alma was a woman of simplicity and contentment, finding joy in the little things that life had to offer. Her passion for fishing was unparalleled; from the break of dawn to the moment the sun dipped below the horizon, Alma could be found casting her line, patiently waiting for the next big catch. She had an unmistakable sense of adventure, as evident by her fondness for traveling to Steele, Missouri, to attend rooster fights, a unique pastime that brought her a great sense of excitement and amusement.

As a devoted homemaker, Alma dedicated her life to creating a loving and nurturing environment for her family. Her commitment to her role as a mother extended beyond her ten children, as she experienced the joy of witnessing five generations blossom beneath her. Her love and guidance will forever be etched in the hearts of her surviving relatives: her children, Lilly (Hershel) Tarpley of Lafe, Billie (Randy) Morrisett of Marmaduke, David (Nancy) Johnson of Paragould, Linda Morris of Paragould, Sandy (Jackie Padgett) Johnson of Lafe, and Junior Johnson of Lafe; her seventeen grandchildren; almost an infinite number of great grandchildren; dozens of great-great and great-great-great grandchildren; and numerous great-great-great-great grandchildren.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emmie Owens; husband, Barrett Johnson; sons, Charles Johnson, Robert Johnson, Johnny Johnson, and Preston Johnson; grandchildren, James Seffers and Mykaylah Shatley; sons-in-law, Kenneth Ivie and Randy Morris; brothers, Leadell Owens and George Owens; and sisters, Geneva Evans, Dealie Walters, Joyce Tedder, and Billie Douglas.

On November 1, 1946, Alma united in holy matrimony with the love of her life. Together, they created countless cherished memories filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.

To honor Alma's life and bid her farewell, a visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, 1-3 pm at Heath Funeral Home. Friends, family, and loved ones are encouraged to come together to remember Alma's vibrant spirit and the indelible mark she left on their lives.

Throughout her life, Alma was an epitome of strength, compassion, and resilience. Her love for her family and her ability to find happiness in the simplest moments will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we gather to say our final goodbyes, let us remember Alma Johnson's life, filled with love, laughter, and shared memories, for they will always be cherished and celebrated.
