Thomas Lewis Newberry

Thomas Lewis "Tom" Newberry, 69, of Paragould, passed away Monday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born on September 4, 1952, to the late Robert and Sarah "Jane" Hood Newberry. He grew up in Paragould and graduated from Paragould High School. Tom married Connie Owens on June 3, 1969, and they lived a wonderful life together. He retired from Emerson Electric after 36 years. He then went to work for AMMC. Tom loved racing. During his spare time, he enjoyed drag racing and slot car racing. Although he would compete in both, he had more success with the slot cars.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 53 years, Connie; daughter, Amanda McKenzie and her husband, Perry; and granddaughters, Alexis and Autumn McKenzie.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-7 at Heath Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at Linwood Cemetery for a graveside funeral at 2pm on Thursday with Rev. Eric Newberry officiating. Pallbearers are Chris McKenzie, Perry McKenzie, Patrick McKenzie, Christopher McKenzie, David Bonds, and Caleb Bonds.
