Thelma Lee Payne

Thelma Lee Payne, 81, passed away Thursday at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She is the daughter of the late Harvey Dickerson and Sylvia Jernigan. Thelma was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and retired from L.A. Darling after 28 years of service. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family and friends. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Owen "Hoss" Payne; brothers, Jake Dickerson, Gerald Jernigan, Sherman Jernigan; infant brother, Clinton Dickerson; and sisters, Mary Potts, Helen Vaughn, and Dorothy Franks.

Survivors include daughters, Sheila Payne, of Marmaduke, Marla Phipps (Kevin), of Brookland, Rana Nicley, of Marmaduke, Bethany Gervis, of Paragould, and Bernice Payne, of Paragould; sons, Guy Zimmerman and Leslie Payne, both of Paragould; granddaughters, Callie Jo Phipps, Amy, Beth, and Julie.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11:30-1:30 pm at Heath Funeral Home. Graveside service will begin at 2:00 pm at New Friendship cemetery. Funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:30 pm. Send memorials to NEA Humane Society. Online guestbook: www.heathfuneralhome.com
