Geraldine Garmrath

January 14, 1938 — June 7, 2015

Mrs. Mary Geraldine Garmrath of Paragould, departed this life Sunday, June 7, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center at the age of 77. She was born January 14, 1938, in Paragould to the late John C. Smith and Pauline A. Chunn Smith. Mrs. Garmrath was a life long member of East Side Baptist Church and served on several committees. She retired from the Arkansas Department of Human Services after 32 years. She spent the last eighteen years traveling, volunteering, quilting, and donating her time to the Greene County Historical and Genealogical Society. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Arkansas Razorbacks, and ASU Lady Red Wolves basketball. She was very active in her four grandsons' lives as she tried to go to all of their sporting events. Mrs. Garmrath was preceded in death by her husband, George Wayne Garmrath; parents, John and Pauline Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Weldon and Betty Jo Smith; and brother, Donald Smith. Survivors include sons, Clifton Garmrath and Steve Garmrath, both of Paragould; grandchildren, Tyler Garmrath (Lauren), Matthew Garmrath (Sarah), Alex Garmrath, and Jon Koy Garmrath; and great-grandchildren, Luxie, Benson, and Loreli; sisters-in-law, Bettie Smith, Alexander City, AL, Laura Diggs, Paragould; brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Verenda Garmroth, Russellville and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 at Heath Funeral Home, Paragould. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10am at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Jason Noel officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Tyler Garmrath, Matt Garmrath, Alex Garmrath, Koy Garmrath, Barry Davis, and Mark Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Wells, Keith Milligan, and Butch Cooper. Memorials may be made to Home Bound Ministry at East Side Baptist Church, Greene County Historical and Genealogical Society or Pilots For Christ.
