Franklin Elkin House

October 1, 1925 — February 10, 2014

Franklin Elkin House of Paragould, AR was born October 1, 1925 to Thomas Jefferson and Ruth (Thacker) House in Burnt Hill (Dixie Area) Arkansas. He passed from this life on February 10th, 2014 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center surrounded by family and a caring nursing staff. He served and was honorably discharged from the US Navy in World War II. He was a graduate of Dixie High School after discharge from the Navy. He was a Mason, member of the Palmer Lodge in Michigan for over 50 years and was past owner/operator of F H Auto Sales-Salvage in Paragould. Frank, along with John Brake, Joe Brummett, Bill Messer, Earl McKelvey and others formed an Oak Grove Little League team. He was also instrumental in getting county youth into the city youth baseball program. In 1967 he was made an Honorary Chapter Farmer in the Oak Grove FFA. Frank was a past president of the Paragould Civitan Club where he was voted Civitan of the Decade. He was the past president of the National Aircraft Carrier Sailors Association where he also held other various offices. He was also a member of the local American Legion post. Frank was involved in getting the Oak Grove water system installed and also served as the Oak Grove Water Users Association Board President. He was a former maintenance supervisor at Tenneco Automotive (Monroe) where he was the first local employee hired. He was also a Maintenance Supervisor at Arvin Automotive in Dexter, Missouri until he had to retire because of health reasons. He was a member of Camp Ground Methodist Church and was also a member of the Greene County Methodist Men. He was a fixture along the end bounds wall at all Oak Grove and Paragould basketball games until he was no longer able to travel easily. Frank is survived by his wife, Ruby (Wineland) House of the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Gary) Burgess of Trumann, AR; two sons, Larry (Loretta) House and Darron (Phyllis) House of Paragould. He is survived by a sister Christine Clark and brother, Robert L. House of Grandview, MO; grand-children, Camille (Brete) Garland, Fayetteville, Kyle (Melissa) Shrader, Trumann, Brandon (Heather Tatum) Shrader, Fayetteville, Tracey Burgess, Trumann, William (aka:Bubba) Burgess, Trumann, Thomas J. House, Paragould, Hailey (Jeremy Mooneyhan) Allison, McDougal, Valerie Herron, Paragould, Anna Bowser, Corning, Derek (Taylor) House, Little Rock and Danual House, Paragould. His great grandchildren are Caroline Little, Ella Clare Garland, Hadassah Shrader, Christian Tatum, Jessica Cupp, Tyler Burgess, Hunter Burgess, Carson Bowser, Caleigh Allison, Jacob Mooneyhan, Rylan Bowser and Braxten Herron. Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers, Thomas J. House Jr. and James L. House, infant sister and grandson Timothy P. House. Visitation will be held at Heath Funeral Home, Paragould, AR Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 PM. Celebration of his life will be held at Camp Ground Methodist Church, 1976 GR 628 RD, Paragould, AR on Wednesday at 1:30 PM. Officiating the service will be Reverend Eddie Harris. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. However, the graveside service will depend on weather conditions at the time of burial. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Camille Garland, Kyle Shrader, Thomas House, Derek House, Danual House and Brandon Shrader. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracey Burgess, William Burgess, Hailey Alison, Valerie Herron and Anna Bowser. His great-grandchildren, Caroline Little, Ella Clare Garland, Hadassah Shrader, Christian Tatum, Jessica Cupp, Tyler Burgess, Hunter Burgess, Carson Bowser, Caleigh Allison, Jacob Mooneyhan, Rylan Bowser and Braxten Herron.
