Eugene Joseph Wedige, 79, of Jonesboro, died Monday, at St Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born July 15, 1933 in Darlington, WI the son of the late Herman and Dora Sutton Wedige. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Eugene was a retired plumber from Amrock in Rockford, Illinois and a retired truck driver from Emerson Electric Company. He was a lifetime fan of the Chicago Cubs, enjoyed camping and traveling and was a member of Herndon Church of Christ in Jonesboro. He is survived by his wife: Barbara (Free) Wedige of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Mark and Ingrama Wedige of Stillman Valley, IL, Ray and Jodie Wedige of Belvidere, IL; daughters and sons-in-law: Gloria and David Christensen of Rockford, IL, Linda (Huffines) Wieland and David of Arlington, TN, Pamela Davidson of Searcy; sisters: Mary Hying of Belmont, WI, Jane Burnn of Hazel Green, WI; brother: Melvin Wedige of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Tim, Tyler, Cassie, Carlie of Illinois, Kelly Hyde Willis of Bartlett, Tennessee; great grandchildren: Cory Willis, Shelby Batts, both of Bartlett, TN and three others from Illinois. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel, 2:00 PM, Thursday, with James Balcom officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Knot Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lanz Loyd, Charles Brogdon, Toni Johns, Terry Jones, Rob Colburn, Harold Chadwick with his co-patients and nurses at St. Bernard's Dialysis Unit in Jonesboro are honorary pallbearers.
