Elva Grooms Hays, 90, of Atoka, Tennessee died August 22, 2009 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis. She was born in Greene County, Arkansas the daughter of the late William Monroe and Minnie Russom Grooms. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Charlie Hays, two brothers and four sisters. Elva was a retired supervisor of Ely Walker Shirt Factory and a member of Beech Grove Nazarine Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Garlon M. and Charlotte Hays of Atoka, TN.; granddaughter, Sheila Hays (Joel) Bramlitt of Collierville, TN; grandson, Bradley G. (Lisa) Hays of Bartlett, TN.; four great grandchildren, Megan Wylie of Oakland, TN, Zach Hays of Bartlett, TN., and Kristen and Kasey Bramlitt of Collierville, TN. ; great grandson: Hays Wylie; brothers, Elmer Grooms of Paragould and Hulan Grooms of Conway, AR.; sisters, Edith Friar of Paragould, and Evelyn Davis of St. Louis, MO. The family will recieve friends from 12:00-2:00 PM Wednesday at Heath Colonial Chapel where her life will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday with Reverend Marion Gramling officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Jimmy Cooper, Eddie Hunt, Charles Harvill, Eddie Taylor, Frankie Hunt and Jerry Dacus. Honorary Pallbearers are Cloyes Hyde and Chris Hampton. Memorial may be sent to the Alztheimer's Association, 10411 W. Markum, Suite 130, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205-1409.
