Edith Lively Evans

Edith Lively Evans, long time resident of Paragould Arkansas and retired teacher, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2013. Born and raised in Lauratown in rural Lawrence County, Miss Lively enrolled at Arkansas State College in 1945 after graduating from Paragould High School. Mrs. Evans began her teaching career at Gosnell, Arkansas, in 1961. She taught in several elementary and junior high schools throughout the southern half of Missouri including Anniston, Naylor, Mtn. View, Dixon, Senath -Hornersville, Sarcoxie, and Dora. She retired from teaching in Missouri in 1984, and moved with her husband J.W. Evans to Paragould where she went to work for the Northeast Arkansas School System as an elementary counselor. She is survived by her husband J.W. Evans, three children Nita Bland and husband Dwain of Winona, Missouri, Jackie and wife Diane of Canton, North Carolina, Bruce and wife Sharlene Evans of Piggott, Arkansas, nine grandchildren Ronald, Sherene, Randell, Russell, Amanda, Emily, Lesley, Jackson, and Amber as well as two step-grandchildren Daniel and Lauren Jones. She is additionally survived by sixteen great grandchildren, and fourteen great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Ira and Myrtle Lively, two sisters, Ida Lively and Alene Thompson, one brother Walter Lively, two nephews Bucky Lively and Dickie Thompson, one grandchild Ryan Bland, and five half brothers. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Bill Teague officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jackson Evans, Justin Bland, Jeff Gooken, Dwain Bland, Paul Brown and Jackie Evans.
